The country had great importance in the past, having been in the twelfth century the capital of the cavalier of St. George, one of the three neighborhoods that made up the town of Porto Maurizio. It was an independent municipality until 1923, when it was one of the 11 municipalities to form the new town of Imperia.
The country is still a Saracen tower in excellent condition in which the night of May 18, 1562
men of Torrazza resisted the attack of the Turks Hasan Kellj and Ulugh Ali lieutenants Draghut in tears witnessing the looting of their country.
